Experimental Observation of Tensor Monopoles with a Superconducting Qudit

چکیده

Monopoles play a center role in gauge theories and topological matter. There are two fundamental types of monopoles physics: vector tensor monopoles. Examples include the Dirac monopole three dimensions Yang five dimensions, which have been extensively studied observed condensed matter or artificial systems. However, less studied, their observation has not reported. Here we experimentally construct tunable spin-1 Hamiltonian to generate then measure its unique features with superconducting quantum circuits. The energy structure 4D Weyl-like threefold degenerate points acting as is imaged. Through quantum-metric measurements, report first experiment that measures Dixmier-Douady invariant, charge monopole. Moreover, observe phase transitions characterized by rather than Chern numbers used for conventional odd-dimensional spaces.Received 22 June 2020Accepted 9 December 2020DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.126.017702© 2021 American Physical SocietyPhysics Subject Headings (PhySH)Research AreasGeometric & phasesQuantum simulationSuperconducting RFPhysical SystemsLow-temperature superconductorsSuperconducting devicesSuperconducting qubitsQuantum InformationCondensed Matter Materials Physics

Emulation of a quantum spin with a superconducting phase qudit.

In quantum information processing, qudits (d-level systems) are an extension of qubits that could speed up certain computing tasks. We demonstrate the operation of a superconducting phase qudit with a number of levels d up to d = 5 and show how to manipulate and measure the qudit state, including simultaneous control of multiple transitions. We used the qudit to emulate the dynamics of single s...

Skyrme - monopoles in scalar - tensor gravity

Considering a Skyrme model with a peculiar gauging of the symmetry, monopole-like solutions exist through a topological lower bound. However, it was recently shown that these objects cannot form bound states in the limit of vanishing Skyrme coupling. Here we consider these monopoles in scalar-tensor gravity. A numerical study of the equations reveals that neither the coupling to gravity nor to ...

Scheduling a constellation of agile earth observation satellites with preemption

In this paper, we consider a scheduling problem for a set of agile Earth observation satellites for scanning  different parts of the Earth’s surface. We assume that preemption is allowed to prevent repetitive images and develop four different preemption policies. Scheduling is done for the imaging time window and transmission time domain to the Earth stations as well. The value of each picture ...

Computational speed-up with a single qudit

Quantum algorithms are known for providing more efficient solutions to certain computational tasks than any corresponding classical algorithm. Here we show that a single qudit is sufficient to implement an oracle based quantum algorithm, which can solve a black-box problem faster than any classical algorithm. For 2d permutation functions defined on a set of d elements, deciding whether a given ...
